Backup and Restoration Policy

Scope, responsibilities, retention, verification, and limitations of backup services.

Version 2.1Updated: July 30, 2026Effective: July 30, 2026
Scope, responsibilities, retention, verification, and limitations of backup services.

1. Scope

This Policy governs backups, retention, restoration, and recovery of files, databases, email, and configurations.

2. Primary responsibility

The Customer must maintain at least one independent copy under its own control. A copy on the same server or protected by the same credentials is not sufficient.

3. Included and contracted backups

Frequency, retention, location, encryption, and included restorations are limited to the applicable plan or proposal. Terms such as daily, weekly, or automatic describe intended scheduling, not absolute execution or restorability guarantees.

4. Common exclusions

Temporary files, caches, oversized logs, nested backups, suspended accounts, data exceeding limits, external systems, Customer devices, and prohibited content may be excluded.

5. Potential failures

Backups may fail due to capacity, corruption, permissions, malware, connectivity, API errors, expired credentials, or provider limits.

6. Testing and verification

The Customer must review reports and request periodic testing. A backup is not fully validated until integrity and restoration have been tested.

7. Restorations

Restoration requests must come from an authorized person and may overwrite current data. Technical time, transfer, storage, or third-party charges may apply.

8. Malware and damaged data

A backup may contain preexisting malware, backdoors, or corruption. DFX may isolate or refuse a direct production restoration until cleanup is performed.

9. Suspension and termination

Suspension, expiration, or termination may stop new backups and cause deletion under normal retention cycles. The Customer must download data before cancellation.

10. Disaster recovery

Recovery time and recovery point objectives are binding only when expressly stated in a specific plan or SLA.

11. Limitation

DFX does not guarantee complete recovery. Failure to maintain an independent external copy is a risk accepted by the Customer.
